In general terms, a server is a server. Whether you elect to buy (for instance) a server from HP, Dell, IBM or any other manufacturer, you will doubtless buy a well engineered, well built piece of equipment which is well able to cope with a multitude of different tasks, such as hosting of departmental applications, storing files, or any of the everyday jobs for which we rely upon server capacity and capability. A typical generic server will be designed to fit into a server rack of 100cm or more in depth, and an assumption is made that the rack will be housed in a datacenter or Network room.

We do not assume that a server will necessarily be fitted into a very deep server rack, so our “standard” ECOserver rack mounted chassis is less than 50cm deep, so will fit into 90%+ of standard comms racks.
